Asian Development Bank Uzbekistan Temir Yullari, the Uzbekistan State Railways, has announced a tender 35,000 tons of rails. This procurement will be self-financed by the railway but is in conjunction with an expected loan $70 million from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for rehabilitation of the rail transport system (project number UZB30457). Uzbekistan Temir Yullari invites sealed bids from prospective bidders from any country for delivery of rails. The bid is open and the bidding process does not include prequalification of bidders. Eligibility will be determined at the evaluation stage. All bids must be accompanied by the collateral determined in the bidding documents and must be delivered by 12 noon on September 15, 1998 to Mr. Shukrat A. U.S. Department of Commerce/SABIT -- The Special American Business Internship Training Program (SABIT) will accept new applications for participation in two of its training programs beginning in the fall. Opening of the "Regular SABIT" and "Presidential Management Training Initiative" (PMTI) programs will be formally announced in The Federal Register. The Regular SABIT program provides to individual English-seaking managers and scientists from NIS countries at a single U.S. company or institution for a period of three to six months. Some $400,000 will be available specifically for training scientists in the next round of basic SABIT. PMTI is a special initiative established by the U.S. and Russian governments to train Russian business managers. For both programs, SABIT reimburses participating U.S. companies for interns' per diem and housing. For information, contact SABIT at SABIT@usita.gov.
