World Bank--The Republic of Moldova has received a loan from the World Bank to procure irrigation pipes and equipment. The Moldovan Ministry of Agriculture and Food is accepting sealed bids for the supply of pipe and equipment in five lots. The lots cover similar types of equipment, suitable for bidding by specialty suppliers. Lots are divided as follows: lot 1--sprinklers (540 sets), lot 2--portable diesel pumps (nine sets), lot 3--high-density polymer distribution pipes (various diameters), lot 4--high-density polymer irrigation pipe with drip outlets every two-meter length, lot 5--electrical pumps (various capacities). U.S. Department of Commerce/Commercial Service-- The Kazakhstan Ministry of Transport has announced a list of priority projects for repair and maintenance services for road and railway lines, as well as for transport and telecommunications services. U.S. transport and construction companies are encouraged to participate in these projects. Competitive tenders will be announced once financing is identified for each project. U.S. companies are encouraged to remain in contact with the ministry and the American Embassy in Almaty for updates on financing. Selected projects include upgrading of the Aktogai-Druzhba section of the Trans-Asian Railway Mainline project, development of high-speed traffic on the Astana-Almaty railway line, renewal of rolling stock and container fleet, reorganization of trans-Caspian ferry service at the Aktau seaport, and rehabilitation of the road network in western Kazakhstan.
