ReportingElectronic reporting date established.Community water systems and non-transient, non-community water systems serving more than 10,000 persons must monitor for unregulated contaminants under the Unregulated Contaminants Monitoring Rule (UCMR). Data from large systems must be approved by the PWS via the Central Data Exchange (CDX), EPA's Internet-based reporting system, before going into the Safe Drinking Water Accession and Review System/Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (SDWARS/UCMR). These data will eventually reside on EPA's National Contaminant Occurrence Database (NCOD). Laboratories that are requested to analyze samples under the UCMR must report analytical results via the CDX. The Reporting Guidance provides information to public water systems, analytical labortatories, states and EPA offices on reporting requirements for the results of unregulated contaminants. There are two options for registering to use SDWARS/UCMR through the CDX. The first is through a preregistration process. Under this option, the PWS or laboratory will receive a letter from EPA with step-by-step instructions for completing the registration process. The URL for this option is https://epacdx.lmi.org/preregistration/. The second option is called open registration. Under this option any laboratory or PWS can log into SDWARS/UCMR via the CDX and request a USER ID. The URL for this option is http://epacdx.lmi.org/. Under both options, the sponsor letter is required to ensure security. A draft version of the CDX/SDWARS/UCMR Implementation Guidance is available for download in PDF format. Use of the documentation should be cautioned since it is a draft and changes could be significant. The URL is http://epacdx.lmi.org/FAQ.asp, then page down to UCMR Questions.
