Local Government ResourcesSome states will delegate aspects of Source Water Assessment Programs (SWAP) to local governments. As such, local leaders need to be aware of SWAP requirements. Perhaps even more importantly, local officials in every state may want to take advantage of opportunities for building on these requirements to put local source water protection measures in place. Three key organizations representing local officials are actively providing information on SWAPs to community leaders across the country. These organizations are the International City/County Management Association , the National Association of Towns and Townships (particularly its educational arm, the National Center for Small Communites ), and the National Association of Counties . For information on source water protection available from these organizations, contact the following webpages: The International City/County Management Associations (ICMA) LGEAN
