AWWA  is
an international nonprofit scientific and educational society dedicated
to the improvement of drinking water quality and supply. Founded
in 1881, AWWA is the largest organization of water supply professionals
in the world. Membership includes more than 4,000 utilities that
supply water to roughly 180 million people in North America.
Active in source water activities, AWWA has resource materials
on source water and
an active source water protection committee.
The Committee organizes a biannual Source Water Protection Symposium
and other conference sessions and workshops, develops and presents
training and educational materials, publishes a newsletter, sponsors
the AWWA Exemplary Wellhead Protection Award (and has developed
a new AWWA Source Water Protection Award), and provides expert peer_review
for numerous projects for other organizations. The chairman of the

New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission (NEIWPCC),
a non-profit interstate water quality agency serving the New England
states and New York has created a webpage for SWAP/Source Protection.
This page contains information on NEIWPCC's regional and national
SWAP/Source Protection projects and includes related publications
such as a source protection guidance manual for download.
The Association of State Drinking Water Officials (ASDWA) is a
professional association for State Drinking Water Programs and publishes
a periodic source water newsletter which can be found on its
site under publications.
The National Source Water Protection List Server is a weekly e-mail
discussion forum and information source about source water protection
for EPA, states and non-profit organizations. It is moderated by
NEIWPCC with participation by ASDWA and GWPC.To subscribe send a

The Ground Water Protection
Council (GWPC)
is a nonprofit organization whose members consist of state and federal
ground water agencies, industry representatives, environmentalists
and concerned citizens, all of whom come together within the GWPC
organization to mutually work toward the protection of the nations
ground water supplies.
