Community 2020TM software is HUD's exciting new desktop geographic information system (GIS) that builds upon Caliper Corporation's acclaimed GIS product MaptitudeR. Community 2020 software's added features allow those unfamiliar with GIS to easily learn mapping technology and access key information about their neighborhood, city, or state.

HUD's purpose is to improve the housing and community development information from HUD to citizens and State and local governments, and to enable users to share information on what their counterparts are doing in economic and community development through out the U.S.

Now, citizens can make the maps their government uses to talk about such things as land use, target areas and new development, to name a few. Community 2020 software is a means for citizens and government to communicate through a common language. HUD's hope is that better decision making will result from the informed collaboration of citizens and their government.

Through this Discussion Forum, we hope to foster an open dialogue and help each other to better use HUD's Community 2020 community planning software.
