U.S. Naval Hospital chooses top performers



GUANTANAMO BAY - HM1 Anthony F. Smart was recently selected as the U.S. Naval Hospital Sailor of the Quarter for the first quarter.

The new leading petty officer of the occupational health clinic, Smart was hand selected from the optometry department for his strong leadership skills, analytical acumen and problem solving abilities.

His collateral duties include assistant command drug and alcohol program advisor and command training team member.

He serves in the community as a minister, secretary and assistant youth leader with the United Jamaican Fellowship Church, a Senior Petty Officer Association member and a member of the hospital’s basketball team.

 

GUANTANAMO BAY – HM3 Nicholas A. Allemond was selected as the U.S. Naval Hospital Junior Sailor of the Quarter for the first quarter.

Allemond has provided a boost to the emergency medicine department since returning to the department in January.

He was also a leeward ambulance crew-member during a Marine humvee rollover and his medical expertise was directly responsible for saving a Marine’s life.

Allemond has successfully completed advanced cardiac life support certification and was recommended as a potential instructor. He was also certified for intubation and manual defibrillation.
