GUANTANAMO BAY - U.S. Naval Hospital ended the season with a convincing 23 - 15 victory over Naval Station in 2000 Women’s Captain Cup Tournament to take home the championship trophy.

Led by LT Stephanie J. Moser (10 points, 4 rebounds) and LCDR Agnes D. Bradley-Wright (7 points, 1 rebound) and the inside game of HN Dametrice D. Johnson (2 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals), the Hospital never trailed in the contest. Leading by 9 - 0 after the first quarter, it was all Moser in the second quarter as she scored six of her 10 points. The Hospital went into the locker room at the half up 15 - 4. In the second half, Hospital racked up four more points by HA Amii S. Jordan and HM3 Gainna V. Ellis and extended their lead at the end of the third quarter to 19 - 5.

Naval Station made a furious fourth quarter charge led by SK3 Lakethia K. Hawkins (4 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals) and Kendra Battle (4 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal). Hawkins had six rebounds and a steal in the fourth quarter which had Naval Station making an 8 - 0 run at one point but could not pull any closer as the speed and ball handing of IC1 Patricia A. Fowler and the fast breaking ability of Bradley-Wright closed the door late in the quarter for the 23 - 15 victory.
