American International Health Alliance (AIHA) and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) -- AIHA and USAID have announced a grants competition in support of establishing new partnerships between U.S. health-related institutions and their counterparts in Armenia, as part of the NIS Health Partnerships Program. AIHA is soliciting applications from qualified U.S. health-related institutions willing to devote substantial in-kind resources, mainly in the form of human resources committed on a volunteer basis, to a 3-4 year partnership, in accordance with the strategic direction of USAID. AIHA will award up to four partnerships in Armenia (in Armavir, Lori, and Gegarkunik regions, and Yerevan). The closing date is June 2, 1999. United States-Tajikistan Chamber of Commerce-- On March 26, 1999, the new United States-Tajikistan Chamber of Commerce opened its doors. The chamber is a professional, not- for-profit organization engaged exclusively in promoting business, commerce, academic pursuits, cooperation, and goodwill among its members and the peoples of the United States and Tajikistan in general.
