Correction of Information on a Revalidated Visa

In the event you receive an E, H, I, L, O, or P visa that was revalidated in Visa Services, but that contains incorrect information, you may return it to us for correction.

What is necessary to request a correction?

(1) the passport with the revalidated visa,
(2) a letter explaining what needs to be corrected,
(3) the documents substantiating the correct information, and
(4) a current photograph with light or white background.

What is the fee for a correction?

There is NO fee for correction of information on a visa revalidated by our office.

Where should the request be sent?

CA/VO/P/D - Visa Services
U.S. Department of State
2401 "E" Street, NW (SA-1, L-703)
Washington, D.C. 20522-0106

How should the request be sent?

All transactions take place via U.S. mail or commercial courier. While we do not recommend any particular service, FEDERAL EXPRESS picks up daily directly from our offices. The office’s mail room is in a different building; items sent via U.S. Postal Service take at least two extra days each way. Include a prepaid airbill for the carrier of your choice to return the documents to you. If you opt for the U.S. Postal Service, you must provide a stamped, self addressed envelope for the postal service. For safety reasons. U.S. Postal inspectors recommend that passports sent via the U.S. Postal Service should be mailed in padded envelopes. If you make no provisions for the return of your documents, we will return them via ordinary surface mail. Make certain you write "CORRECTION" on the front of the envelope for quicker service.

How long does the request take to process?

Revalidated visas returned for correction receive priority service. You may expect a turnaround of approximately five working days.
