Welcome to the Geographic Learning Site (GLS).

We hope you'll find this site fun and educational. You'll learn all about the U.S. Department of State: the interesting countries where U.S. Diplomats work; places where the Secretary of State travels; geographic Hot Spots and Cool Sites; international affairs and important international issues; and more!

To view this site, you'll need a special free software called "Flash." If you already have "Flash," you should see a bouncing ball in the box (see below).   If you see a bouncing ball, click on the flashing words.   If you do not see a bouncing ball, please follow the easy instructions below.
The entire process of downloading and installing "FLASH" can take less than one minute!!

(Note: you only have to load "FLASH" once, then you can view the GLS and many other great web sites that use it!)
You need a browser that supports Netscape plug-ins or ActiveX controls to view this page.

Shockwave "Flash" (Player) Plug-in Installation:

The ActiveX components are being installed! BUT, to view "Flash" files, your browsers Security Safety Level must be set to Medium. To change this setting, select View, then Options. Click on the Security tab, then on the Safety Level at the bottom, right hand corner. From this point, make sure the Active component setting is on Medium.

After you've downloaded the plug-in you should know about these great options:
