NRC ANNOUNCES OPPORTUNITY FOR HEARING ON APPLICATION
TO RENEW D.C. COOK, UNITS 1 AND 2, OPERATING LICENSES

D.C. Cook is located near Benton Harbor, Michigan, and the current operating licenses for the plant’s Unit 1 and Unit 2, expire on October 25, 2014, and December 23, 2017, respectively.

The deadline for requesting participation in the hearing is January 9 (30 days after publication of a Federal Register Notice, on December 10). By that date, petitions must be filed by anyone whose interest may be affected by the license renewal, and who wishes to participate as a party in the proceeding. Petitions for a hearing must be filed with the Secretary of the Commission, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Washington, D.C. 20555-0001, Attention: Rulemaking and Adjudications Staff. They may also be delivered to the NRC Public Document Room at 11555 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Maryland.

NRC staff have determined that Indiana Michigan Power has submitted sufficient information for the agency to formally “docket,” or file, the application. Docketing the application does not preclude requesting additional information as the review proceeds, nor does it indicate whether the Commission will grant or deny the application.
