NRC ANNOUNCES
THE AVAILABILITY OF LICENSE RENEWAL |
|||||||||
| The Nuclear Regulatory Commission
is announcing the public availability of an application for a 20-year renewal
of the operating licenses for Units 1 and 2 at the D.C. Cook nuclear power plant.
The NRC received the application from the Indiana Michigan Power Co. on November
3.
The D.C. Cook plant is located near Benton Harbor, Michigan. The current operating license for Unit 1 expires on October 25, 2014; the current operating license for Unit 2 expires on December 23, 2017. The NRC staff is currently conducting an initial review of the application to determine whether it contains enough information for the required formal review. If the application has sufficient information, the NRC will formally "docket," or file, the application and will announce an opportunity to request a hearing. The renewal application is available through the NRC's Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) on the agency’s Web site at this address: http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams/web-based.html by entering accession number ML033070179. Help in using ADAMS is available by contacting the NRC Public Document Room staff at 301-415-4737 or 800-397-4209, or by sending a message to pdr@nrc.gov via e-mail. In addition, copies of the D.C. Cook license renewal application are available at the Maud Preston Palenske Memorial Library, 500 Market St., St. Joseph, Michigan, and the Bridgman Public Library, 4460 Lake St., Bridgman, Michigan. |
