NRC ASSIGNS NEW
SENIOR RESIDENT INSPECTOR |
||
| U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission
officials in the agency’s Region II office in Atlanta have assigned Kathy
Weaver as the new Senior Resident Inspector at the Turkey Point nuclear power
plant, operated by Florida Power & Light Company near Florida City, about
30 miles south of Miami.
She joins Resident Inspector Katherine Green-Bates at the two-nuclear-unit site. Turkey Point also has two oil-fired generating units not under NRC jurisdiction. Weaver joined the NRC in 1990 and has worked as a reactor inspector in the agency’s Region IV office at Arlington, Texas and as the Resident Inspector at the Grand Gulf nuclear power plant near Port Gibson, Mississippi. Her most recent assignment was as Resident Inspector at the Arkansas Nuclear One nuclear power plant near Russellville, Arkansas. She earned an Associate Degree in Nuclear Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from Arkansas Technical University in Russellville. Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant is assigned NRC resident inspectors who serve as the agency’s eyes and ears at each facility by conducting regular inspections, monitoring significant work projects and interacting with plant workers and the public. The NRC resident inspectors at Turkey Point can be reached at (305) 245-7669. |
