No: II-99-58 December 30, 1999 NRC Region II to Monitor Nuclear Plants in The Southeast During Y2k Transition The Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Region II office in Atlanta will monitor the status of commercial nuclear power plants in the southeastern United States during the Year 2000, or Y2K rollover, from Dec. 31 through New Year's Day. The Region II Incident Response Center will be fully staffed and an inspector will be stationed at each plant site during the transition period. From 9 p.m. on Dec. 31 through 9 a.m. on Jan. 1, a Region II public affairs officer will be available to answer news media questions regarding those plants.
