Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials have assigned Barry S. Norris as the Resident Inspector at the James A. FitzPatrick nuclear power plant in Scriba, N.Y. He joins Senior Resident Inspector Rick Rasmussen at the single-unit site.

Mr. Norris joined the NRC in May 1985 as a senior operations engineer in the Region I Division of Reactor Safety . He also worked as the project inspector for the Shoreham nuclear plant, and as a project engineer in the Region I Division of Reactor Projects. Most recently, he was assigned as the Senior Resident Inspector at Nine Mile Point nuclear plant in Scriba, N.Y.

Prior to joining the NRC, Mr. Norris worked as a senior quality assurance engineer for Houston Light and Power at the South Texas Project and at Gilbert/Commonwealth, Inc. He served in the United States Navy as a reactor operator/engineering watch supervisor.

Mr. Norris earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa. He has also pursued an MBA in management at the University of Houston.
