NOTE TO EDITORS:

COMMISSION BRIEFING AND PUBLIC MEETING ON MILLSTONE SCHEDULED

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff and officials of Northeast Utilities will brief the Commission on Friday, December 12, on the status of the restart process for the Millstone nuclear power plant. Sargent and Lundy, Parsons Power Company and Little Harbor Consultants also will make presentations. Millstone is located in Waterford, Conn., and operated by Northeast Utilities.

The meeting, which is open to the public for observation, will begin at 9 a.m. in the Commissioners' Conference Room, at One White Flint North, 11555 Rockville Pike in Rockville, Md.

In addition, on Wednesday evening, December 17, the NRC's Special Projects Office staff will meet with the public at the Waterford Town Hall, in Waterford, Conn., to discuss the status of the recovery efforts at Millstone. That session will begin at 7 p.m.
