A notice of application filing deadline ((.pdf) / (.doc)) was published in the Federal Register on Monday, November 8, 1999. Applications for grants must be postmarked no later than midnight Friday, March 17, 2000. Applications for FY 2000 loans or combination loans and grants may be submitted at anytime up to September 30, 2000, and will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
For FY 2000, $20 million in grants and $200 million in loans will be made available for distance learning and telemedicine projects serving rural America. The funding will be provided in three categories: (1) $13 million will be available for grants; (2) $130 million will be available for loans; and (3) $77 million will be available for combination grants and loans ($7 million in grants paired with $70 million in loans).
